Mobile spyware is on the rise again. Just last month, Apple sent out alerts to users who were being actively targeted by mercenary spyware in 92 countries. Additionally, GrapheneOS recently shed light on Cellebrite's exploit capabilities for both Android 14 and iOS 17. Even Cellebrite themselves reported their subscription revenue rose a whopping 29% in Q1 of 2024.

Given this upward trend, being able to detect these types of threats is becoming increasingly important. This is where iVerify can help.

What is iVerify?

iVerify Basic is a mobile app for both iOS and Android that focuses on proactive security measures, offering users insights and tools to keep their devices secure. It protects smartphones from a wide array of threats and adds detective capabilities through on demand device scans and forensic log analysis with their threat hunting feature.

While it's impossible to guarantee 100% protection from mercenary spyware, iVerify is a great app to help you begin your security journey.

**Features:

  1. How-To Security Guides:** Guides users through important settings to configure on their phone. I also recommend following this guide first. 😀

2. Security Notifications: Users can set the app to notify them about threat detection events, new device software updates, spyware news, and schedule device reboot reminders.

3. Browsing Protection: iVerify can enforce HTTPS connections within the mobile browser.

4. Basic On Demand Device Scans: iVerify can scan users devices locally for configuration changes, jailbreaks, and other changes in settings that could indicate compromises.

5. Threat Hunt Scan: By far the most powerful feature of the app. ****Users can request an advanced forensic analysis scan every 90 days by submitting their device sysdiagnose file. Users can also provide an email address if they wish to be notified by iVerify of any potential compromises. Data is transmitted anonymously and securely according to iVerify’s FAQ, and user data is retained for 30 days.

Should you download iVerify?

iVerify costs $0.99 USD. If you want to take the first few steps to secure your phone then there are many free guides available online, including mine I made while back. However, if you want the ability to scan your device for signs of compromise and have some reassurance, then iVerify is definitely a great option as there are very few trusted mobile apps that offer this level of detective capabilities.

If you are looking for a free way to scan your device, then I would recommend iMazing’s Spyware Analyzer for iOS or Malwarebytes Mobile Security for Android.
