 Here’s something interesting I discovered. When sharing a social media post from Twitter, Instagram or even LinkedIn to another platform, the client will add an extra string of characters after the “?” that is unique to your account/login session. This is used for tracking and analytical purposes for the platform and advertisers. However, when this string of characters is removed, the URL will still function as normal when shared.

For iOS devices, I have created a neat Apple shortcut that I thought I would share to help. It automatically removes the tracking component from these URL’s and copies the new, clean URL to your clipboard. In my screenshot I set it to share in the messages app but this can be customized or just left in your clipboard for you to share anywhere you want.
